It has become a rather norm for the new generation in the work force to be criticized for its poor sense of entitlement and work ethic. Still anyone who is working with the new generation in the work force namely the workers between the ages of 20-30 would agree that there are some key abilities that need to be appreciated.
Here is a list of abilities that make the younger generation stand out:
Numerous studies are citing that the younger generations of workers seem to be more oriented with producing results rather than focusing on the factor of looking at the biggest pay check. A key attribute that has been observed here is that they focus more on jobs that aligns with their interest and goals rather than financial amenities.
The new generation is the product of the information age and with being more exposed to the distractions of technology they have become more adept at multi-tasking. Tumblr, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter have made them more accountable, with becoming the masters of communication and ‘PR’ building abilities. This flexibility has resulted in the development of a staggering freelance sector that did not seem possible a decade ago.
The new generation of workers has proved repeatedly that they are one of the most productive workers in the world today. With the cloud technology booming, youngsters are producing results and working on the go, whether it’s working from home, coffee shops or even in transit. This definitely makes them a valuable member of any team and these abilities keep growing over time.
Another attribute that the new working generation is notorious for is that they feel comfortable branching out to top executives and are not afraid of taking chances and making a name for themselves. The fact of the matter is that this does come with its risk as this feat may backfire, but more often than not its shows promise in a new up-comer in the company.
A task that might seem daunting to the old work force is the act of connectivity but with the new age of social media and the internet this has become ever so easy. One time meetings result in immediate connections on LinkedIn and friend request on Facebook and such connections result in positive roles and innovative project building in the future.
Every member of the new generation work force is highly adept at using smart phone technology and not even considering the multi-tasking abilities here, the productivity level of an individual dramatically rises with smart phones and this helps drive companies and their consumers to a new level.
This is an attribute that may be frowned upon by the old generation as this does challenge the sense of loyalty to a company that is kept at a very high stool in the old generation, but the constant connection building leads to a large pool of contacts, that results in the younger generation quickly getting linked to better career opportunities and has an outcome of increasing employability chances throughout an individual’s career.
